Vesync’s Privacy Policy for Children

Last modified: March 28, 2022

Effective date: June 22, 2022

This policy applies only to Children under the age of 16 or any higher minimum age in your jurisdiction.

CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 16

While Vesync’s mobile applications and services are available only to registered adult users, we recognize that family and household members of registered users may be children. We also recognize that registered adult users may, from time to time, permit their children to use their Vesync products, such as Vesync’s smart fitness scales or other health and wellness products to track fitness and/or other health data about their children, such as their weight.

We understand the importance of protecting children’s privacy; therefore, we strive to be clear about how we collect, use, disclose, transfer, and/or store your children’s information. Our goal is to help you make an informed decision when you provide your children’s information to us or when you allow your children to use our products and services.

This purpose of this policy is to notify parents of:

  • The types of information we may collect about your children when you provide it to us or when you allow your children to use our products.

  • How we use the information we collect.

  • Our practices for disclosing that information.

  • Our practices for notifying and obtaining your consent when we collect personal information from you about their children or when you allow your children to use our products, and how you may revoke consent.

  • All operators that collect or maintain information from children through our App.

This policy only applies to children under the age of 16 and supplements our general Mobile Application Privacy Policy. Only our general privacy policy applies to older teens and adults.

Terms that are defined in the general privacy policy have the same meanings as used in this Privacy Policy for Children Under the Age of 16.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Information You Provide to Us

Vesync allows registered users to create user profiles for their children to track their children’s fitness, health, and wellness information. When you create a profile for your child, we may ask you to provide personal information about your child, such as their name, date of birth, gender, height, and weight. You may also choose to share additional information about your child with us or allow your child to share certain additional information with us.

Information We Collect Directly

If you create your child’s profile and allow your child to use our products, those products will collect data from their usage. For example, by allowing your child to use your smart fitness scale, the scale may collect data such as their weight, body mass, skeletal muscle, or bone mass. The data from our products will sync with the App and will be transferred to our servers.

We only collect as much information as you provide or as much as you allow your child to use our products. Additionally, we do not collect more data than is reasonably necessary to provide our services to you.

HOW WE USE YOUR CHILD'S INFORMATION

We use the personal information you provided to us about your child or from your child’s usage of our products:

  • To create and maintain his or her user profile in your Vesync account.

  • To provide you with our services such as:

    • Allowing you to create a health profile for your child and to enable you to set baseline measurements for all of your child’s health, fitness, and wellness data and track their development, growth, or progress.

  • To improve our services.

  • To provide customer support.

  • For internal purposes such as troubleshooting, protecting against errors, data analysis and testing, to develop new features and services, and to promote the safety and security of our App.

HOW WE SHARE YOUR CHILD’S INFORMATION

We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer children's personal information other than as described in this section.

We may disclose aggregated information about many of our users, and information that does not identify any individual or device. In addition, we may disclose children's personal information:

  • To third parties we use to support the internal operations of our App and who are bound by contractual or other obligations to use the information only for such purpose and to keep the information confidential.

  • If we are required to do so by law or legal process, such as to comply with any court order or subpoena or to respond to any government or regulatory request.

  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Vesync, our customers or others, including to:

    • protect the safety of a child;

    • protect the safety and security of the App; or

    • enable us to take precautions against liability.

  • To law enforcement agencies or for an investigation related to public safety.

In addition, if Vesync is involved in a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Vesync's assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding or event, we may transfer the personal information we have collected or maintain to the buyer or other successor.

Social Features. The App offers social features, including posting on message boards that enable the registered user to communicate and share with others. We do not control the types of information you share about your child through them. We encourage you to carefully monitor your use of social features to ensure you do not disclose your child’s personal information through them.

ACCESSING AND CORRECTING YOUR CHILD'S PERSONAL INFORMATION

At any time, you can review, change, or delete your child's personal information by:

  • Logging into your Vesync account from your mobile device and visiting his or her user profile.

  • Sending us an email at Privacy@vesync.com. To protect your privacy and security, we may require you to take certain steps or provide additional information to verify your identity before we provide any information or make corrections.

Similarly, you may refuse to permit us from further collecting or using the child’s information at any time by deleting his or her user profile.
